# Pool hedging

> Read the pool's exposure and the advisory hedge, over the market-maker gateway.

A market maker that supplies ZLP becomes the counterparty of ZEUS traders. These reads give the data to hedge the pool's net exposure on another venue. They need an `apiKey`.

```ts theme={null}
const exposure = await zeus.pool.exposure()
const hedge = await zeus.pool.hedgeRecommendation()
for (const row of hedge.recommendations) {
  console.log(row.market, row.action, row.notionalUsd)
}
```

| Call | Returns |
| - | - |
| `pool.vault()` | TVL, economic NAV, free and reserved liquidity, utilization, ZLP price |
| `pool.exposure()` | Long and short open interest, net skew, aggregate exposure |
| `pool.markets()` | The same per market, with caps and the market's risk state |
| `pool.pnl()` | The pool's realized and unrealized PnL and fee attribution |
| `pool.risk()` | Active limits, thresholds and open alerts |
| `pool.hedgeRecommendation()` | Per market: the pool's net exposure and a suggested `BUY`, `SELL` or `NONE` with a notional |

A positive `vaultNetExposureUsd` means the pool is net long that market, so the suggestion is to sell it elsewhere. The recommendation is advisory; ZEUS never places a hedge. The [exposure stream](https://sdk.zeustrade.io/data/streams.md) pushes the same data every 5 seconds.
